Yubisha – New Butoh Performance
“Gyōkō: The Long-Crowing Rooster”
–
This work is an attempt to weave a Butoh performance that traverses the creative forms of Kagura and contemporary bodily expression, created with the generous cooperation of the Hayachine-dake School Toyama Kagura Preservation Society.
Inspired by the “Tokoyo no Naganaki-dori” (the Long-Crowing Bird of the Eternal World), a mythical bird said since ancient times to herald the dawn and restore light to the world, this piece centers on a rooster dance.
In the Kojiki, the Tokoyo no Naganaki-dori raises its resonant voice together with the dance of Ame-no-Uzume-no-Mikoto, opening the Heavenly Rock Cave. Its cry, which dispels darkness and calls forth light, has long carried symbolic meaning as a primordial force of the performing arts, purifying the earth.
In this work, the cultural memory of the rooster is reinterpreted as a bodily act in which the body treads upon the ground and purifies the space.

遊舞舎 新作舞踏作品
『 暁光 長鳴鶏 』（ぎょうこう ながなきどり）
ー
本作は、早池峰岳流・外山神楽保存会の皆様のご協力のもと、神楽の型の持つ創造性と現代の身体表現を横断し、舞踏作品を紡ぎ出す試みです。
古代より夜明けを告げ、世界に光を呼び戻す存在として語られてきた「常世の長鳴鳥（とこよのながなきどり）」に着想を得て創作された鶏舞。
古事記において常世の長鳴鳥は、天宇受売命（アメノウズメ）の舞とともに高らかな声を響かせて天岩戸を開いた。闇を祓い、光を呼ぶその声は、芸能の始原に在って大地を清める象徴性を帯びてきました。
本作では鶏についての文化的記憶を、身体が大地を踏みしめ場を清める所作として再解釈します。
