This exhibition traces Wei-Ting Chen’s recent practice, where poetry becomes the starting point for works across painting, lithography, and installation. Rooted in everyday scenes and childhood memories, the works explore ambiguous emotions and temporal disjunction through fictional characters and object relations.
The title A Trace of Grey evokes a state between clarity and uncertainty, light and shadow, reflecting Chen’s interest in emotional pauses and the blurred boundaries of being. The accompanying poetry-image publication continues this dialogue, merging reading and viewing into a shared emotional space.

本展では、陳威廷の近年における創作の流れを紹介します。詩を出発点とし、絵画、リトグラフ、インスタレーションなど複数のメディアへと展開される彼の表現言語に焦点を当てています。作品は日常の風景や子どもの頃の記憶を基盤とし、架空のキャラクターやオブジェとの関係性を通じて、曖昧な感情や時間の断絶感を伴うイメージの物語を構築しています。
展覧会タイトル「ひとすじの灰色」は、明と暗、確かさと不確かさのあいだにある状態を象徴しており、作家が一貫して関心を寄せてきた「感情の余白」や「存在の曖昧な境界」への応答でもあります。画面の中の人物たちは、しばしば「待つ」「彷徨う」「ためらう」といった姿勢をとり、人と人との関係、言語、知覚、記憶といったテーマへの長年の探求を映し出しています。
また、本展にあわせて同名の詩画集も刊行されており、詩とイメージの二重の語りを一体化させ、読むことと見ることを同期させるような感情体験を試みています。
