Have you ever imagined that the soil beneath your feet could become a tool for cooking?
Through daily life in Toride—tasting food grown in its fields and spending time in this place—I’ve found myself, a foreigner, gradually connected to this land.The soil beneath our feet shapes who we are.
Holding a handful of soil, What kind of life could it nurture, and what might it become?
In this workshop, we will explore various ways of engaging with soil, seeking transformations that emerge between making and cooking.

Timetable:
11:00 Build the kiln with soil *
12:00 Prepare for fire-making*
13:00 Begin firing the kiln*
14:00 Start of the workshop / Introduction to the process
14:30 Wrap the chicken and ingredients
14:50 Move outdoors and place the food into the kiln
15:10 Return to the shokudo and conduct the soil workshop
16:20 Open the kiln, take out the food, and share & talk session
17:00 End of workshop
The sessions(from 11am to 1pm) marked with * are optional workshop activities. If you want to participate from the kiln-building stage, you may join from 11am.
Please bring your own lunch. The shokudo will be available for rest and eating.

足元の土が、料理の道具になることを考えたことはありますか？
取手での日々の活動のなかで、取手の畑で育った食材を味わううちに、異国から来た私も、いつのまにかこの土地とのつながりを感じるようになりました。私たちの足元の土は、私たちを形づくっています。
ひと握りの土をすくいあげると、それはどんな養分となり、どんな形へと変わっていくのでしょうか。
このワークショップでは、土に触れるさまざまな方法を通して、「つくること」と「料理すること」のあいだにある変化を探ります。

*付きの時間帯(午前11時から午後13時まで)は任意参加のワークショップ内容です。窯づくりから参加したい方は、午前11時からご参加いただけます。
