Online Special Open Lecture: How to live a better life as an artist under different circumstances (including COVID-19)オンライン特別公開講義

Lee Kit is known for his installations which use various media such as projector light, videos, sounds, words and found objects, and his artworks make tranquil space and expand on the concept of ‘paintings’. Having been born and raised in Hong Kong, a city that has been susceptible to political turbulence, Lee has been conscious of the current socio-political climate. His thoughts and actions that support this will provide great inspiration for our department, which is engaged in making and research while considering art in the global age.

In this open lecture, Lee will introduce his past activities and think about how to live better in today’s difficult environment, together with the students who are currently exhibiting at the graduation exhibition. Please have a look!

リー・キットは、プロジェクターによる光、映像、音、言葉やファウンド・オブジェなどの素材を使って「絵画」の概念を拡張した静謐な空間インスタレーションを制作することで知られています。植民地時代から現在に至るまで政治に翻弄され揺れ動く都市、香港を出自にするリーは、同時代の社会や政治状況に対しても大きな問題意識を持ち、それを支える思考と行動は、グローバル時代におけるアートを考察しながら制作・研究を行う当専攻に大きな示唆を与えてくれることでしょう。

本講義では、彼の今までの活動を紹介してもらいながら、昨今の困難な環境の中でより良く生きる方法について、修了展に現在出展中の学生と共に考えます。ぜひご視聴ください。
