Each time the breadth, scope, and quality improves greatly along with technical knowhow, as the form expands and more filmmakers become aware of dance as a viable medium.

“itsy bitsy” a film by Kusanagi Sisters (JuJu & Lisa Kusanagi) will be screened as a part of the Aesthetica Art Prize: Future Now Symposium 2021.

The Future Now Symposium is an exploration of 21st century culture through the mechanism of art. This multidisciplinary four-day virtual event brings together key institutions, galleries, publications and artists for live-streamed discussions surrounding the most pressing issues from today’s creative industries. Through imaginative debates, panel discussions, career advice and cultural engagement, Future Now is a platform for idea generation.

2020年、世界中でパンデミックが起こり、私たちの活動の中心は家とインターネットとなった。 一見不利に感じるこの現状は、もしかしたらアートのかたちを見直すきっかけになるかもしれない。 もっと私たち人間のごく身近な日常、原始的な感情に寄り添った身の回りの芸術を眺めてみたい。 そして仮に、そのごく身近な芸術によって、今まで見逃していた風景や新しい「もの」の見方に気付くことが出来るならば、私たちが乗り越えなければならないこの大きな変換期は少しだけ「ハッピー」なものになるのではないだろうか。

本展では過去に公益財団法人ポーラ美術振興財団での若手芸術家の在外研修に対する助成に採択されたアーティストの作品を展示します。ポーラ ミュージアム アネックスでの作品発表を今後の活動に活かしていただきたいという趣旨により開催するものです。今回も昨年に引き続きポーラ美術館館長 木島俊介による監修のもと、前期・後期に分けて合計8名の作家をご紹介します。前期となる今回は「主体と客体」をテーマに伊佐治雄悟、石川洋樹、谷本めい、脇田常司の作品を展示します。なお、後期は2021年3月18日（木）から4月18日（日）まで開催予定です。 公益財団法人ポーラ美術振興財団による若手芸術家の在外研修に対する助成事業は、35歳以下のアーティストを対象に海外での研修を援助し、更に活発な創作活動を奨励しようとするもので、毎年実施されています。

Shiseido Gallery has been engaging in a range of activities for more than a century, and has based on the notion of discovering and creating new aesthetics. Shiseido art egg is an open call program designed to give to promising new artists access to the Gallery. This year’s shiseido art egg, the fourteenth, will feature solo exhibitions by three artists, selected from among 215 applicants nationwide. The third artist in this 14th shiseido art egg, Claire Fujita has expanded her interest in interrelations and distances between humans, and the way communication has changed with the times. She creates mechanical objects and installations that represent various relationships, and has transformed the gallery into a dynamic place that includes sound and time. In the main gallery, she has installed a huge, central chandelier-like object, and arranged moving metal rods on the walls around it, conjuring up an image of a secret ball dance being held in the basement of Ginza. The seashell works on the mezzanine and in the smaller gallery trace and measure the supposed “golden ratio” proportions of said shells, and convert the results into sound and drawings. Growing up in multiple cultures and residing overseas for extended periods, Fujita has always been conscious of how she is different to others. Attesting to the “unfathomable” aspects of this experience, and making interesting observations on these, she turns them into works. These are also contemplations on the structure of relationships, and her modest resistance to social issues such as “division” and “peer pressure,” which are said to be accelerated by new forms of communication.

2006年よりスタートした公募プログラム「shiseido art egg」は、瑞々しい新進アーティストによる「新しい美の発見と創造」を応援するものです。本年度は全国各地より215件の応募をいただき、その中から選ばれた３名の新進アーティストによる展覧会を10月～12月にかけて開催します。 第三期は、藤田 クレアによる個展「ふとうめい な 繋がり」を行います。 藤田は、世の中に存在するさまざまな差異や境界線、変化するコミュニケーションのあり方に着目します。人間の関係性を見つめなおし、素材を組み合わせ、動き、音などを用いることで、あいだに存在するエネルギー、リズム、距離、時間／歴史などを表現します。見えない繋がりを感じさせ、記憶を呼び覚ます作品となるでしょう。 なお、本展では新型コロナウィルス感染防止の観点から、入場者数を事前予約により制限しています。ご来館時はこちらをご覧ください。

GAP Orientation for Entrance Examination (Online)｜GAP入試相談会（オンライン）開催

Online Orientation for Global Art Practice’s entrance examination will be held by Zoom on the following dates. It will be open for prospective students who wish to enroll in GAP in April 2021. Registration is NOT required and please enter the zoom meeting room indicated bellow on your preferable date. This orientation will be mainly held in Japanese and interpreted into English as necessary. The application period of the exam in February both for Japanese and international students is November 18-25, 2020.

“そこにてここにいない ( There but not here )” is an exhibition presented by Inoue, Xu, and Sakuragi, inside their online shared-house. In the current pandemic, the world has come to a standstill, at the same time, too much information and rumors are causing panic and confusing the public. Sense of values begins to change dramatically. On the one hand, the invisibles can cause tremendous damage, on the other hand, the authenticity of the visibles can be doubtful. Being separated in Germany, China, and France, the three can access different information, which result in different “realities”. How does the view change, before and after the pandemic?

「そこにてここにいない」は、井上、XU、櫻木による展示です。それぞれの視点から作品制作を行い、三人の住む家で展示を行いたいと思います。
現在起こっているパンデミックの中で、世界が止まり、さらに過剰な情報や噂がパニックを広める要因となり、人々の目を晦ませています。目に見えないものが多大な損害を引き起こし、目に見えるものの真偽を識別しにくくなる中で、人々の価値観が大きく変わり始めています。ドイツ、中国、フランスに滞在する中で、環境や情報へのアクセスの違いによって三人が見る、感じる「世界」の差が生まれています。
パンデミック前と今とで、私たちの見える景色はどのように変わっているでしょうか。
